Dear Moderator...

This work has now been marked.

Thank you!

Evaluation - Question 7 - Jennifer Tate

Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

From the preliminary task I was learned a great deal about the camera as I did all the filming for ours. Filming took around 15 minutes as I'd never used a camera like that before so I have to learnt all about it. Also as we wanted to try and do the best possible job we could, we did about 3 shots of every scene. However when it came to editing this I found it surprisingly easy and enjoyed it a lot more compared to filming. I learnt how to cut clips down, render the film, add text, add music etc. We didn't have to use a lot of editing skills in the preliminary though as it was very simple compared to our finished film.

I feel ii have progressed form the preliminary task throughout the time we've been making our finial project. Me and Jess talked it through as we knew that her stronger point was filming and mine was editing, so therefore we both wanted to do a little bit of both; but Jess did more filming and I did more editing. Through editing our finial film I've learned out to add text on the screen, add music, adjust sound levels and volume for speech or music or any particular type of sound, I learnt how to spilt a screen in two; we had to do this as we had a spilt phone conversation. I think using all of these skills has helped me understand the film business a lot more and made our film more interesting to watch, which will hopefully get our target audiences attention

Evaluation - Question 4 Jenny Tate.

Our target audience is from an age range of 15-21 and of both genders, this is because I feel that they will be able to relate and understand the film a lot more easily than someone who is say, in their mid thirties. The social group that we would be aiming for would be a 'party animal' type, they get excited by the idea of going out, drinking, seeing friends and having a good time, they typically would also be around the age of 15-21. We know that under the age of 18 is illegal to drink but its a known fact the under-age drinking happens so they would enjoy watching this film as they would be able to relate to it.

When thinking about the audience for our media product, we thought up two hypothetical teenagers as I thought it would then be easy to think of the types of people who would watch our film.

Mischa: She is a 17 year old college student of black British ethnicity, that lives with her Dad in Bristol, that enjoying going to concerts, hanging out with her friends, going to parties, going to town, drinking and following fashion. At parties and in her spare time she tends to listen to music that is in the charts, dubstep and drum and bass. She generally watches e4 as it appeals to her age group, some of the shows that are shown are; Skins, The Inbetweeners, The Big Bang Therory, Shipwrecked, Misfits etc, this all falls under the 'Teen' genre.

Aaron: He is a 16 year old school drop out of white British ethnicity, who is unemployed and lives with his parents in Liverpool. In his spare time he likes to go down the skatepark with his friends, he also likes to play xbox and occasionally smokes cannabis. He listens to alternative rock and indie music. He doesn't tend to watch much t.v except for Skins and the occasional episode of Friends, but he mainly watches films such as Kidulthood and other 'Teen' films.

We came up with these two people as although they are both different in they own ways they would both still be interested in our film because if their age and their interests. These would be the type of people who would most likely watch skins as it has aspects of their own life in it. Also according to the BFI, the gender spilt of films with a similar genre to skins in 2011 was 53% girls and 47% boys, really not that much of a difference, this is why we thought of two people as both genders would hopefully be interested in our film.

Evaluation - Question 2 - Jennifer Tate

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our media product represents our social group as rebellious. We thought of our social group as soon as we started to think our our initial ideas. We knew from the start that we wanted our film to be about teenagers, teenage life and how they rebel against what society wants them to be.

We wanted to show that I had had a rough night out, possibly got myself into trouble, drank and possibly even taken other substances. The way in which I am dressed, my make up and my hair all connotes this. We got our inspiration for the make up from 'Effy' a character in 'Skins'. As she has she has make up down her face as if she's been crying, has messy hair and is smoking a spliff. however we to advertising drug taking so we made me smoke cigarettes in our film.

We used cigarettes as a prop in our film so to suggest that she needs them if she's stressed, tired, hungover, and smoking is just a normal thing for her. It's typical behaviour for her, she's a 'difficult' teenager so smoking in an alley way outside college is classed as a general thing for her, and we wanted to follow the stereotype of a rebellious teenager, so thats the reason we dressed her in this way, used cigarettes and hopefully made her come across with an 'I don't care attitude'.

Evaluation - Question 1 - Jennifer Tate

Evaulation Question 1

Evaluation activity seven - by Jessica Towler

From the preliminary task I have learnt a lot about camera work and the programs we used to edit the filming, the preliminary task was quite rushed and only took about 5 minutes to film as we used a small room and so this made it was easy to get the shots we wanted, whereas in the main filming for our movie opening, we also used quite a tight space for the beginning of the opening, but this made it a little bit harder to get the shots we wanted because it was a narrow alley way so some of the shots like a long shot of Jenny sitting down was not possible as I could not possibly get the camera that far away from her, I did the best I possibly could and got an angled long shot of Jenny sitting down on the curb in the alley.

I have also learnt a lot about editing because in the preliminary task there was only so much editing we could do, but in the movie opening there was much more of a variety of things we could do with the filming, we decided to add music, text and different volumes and effects in the filming, for example we used the split screen for the phone conversation, this is a good thing to have in our movie because it is originally from a music video type thing, and this could help our movie link to our target audience of 15-21 year old's because they are the age group that tend to watch music videos the most.

Evaluation activity six - by Jess & Jenny

The photo on the left is of me setting up the camera and tripod for Jess as she was going to film the inside shots of me and Hayley in the end scene. However I do know how to camera as did all the filming in the preliminary task we did. This involved me making sure that there was enough memory on the camera so we could film everything we needed, making sure we have enough battery for the time we were filming, and generally just checking that the camera and tripod were in good working order. I do some filming outside when we used another person to do the other end of the phone conversation but we didn't use this as it looked too rushed.

The photo to the right is me using 'Final Cut Pro' this is the software we used to edit all of our film. The edited took a long time and consisted of a few days possibly 2 weeks as we had to edit in sound, pictures, video clips. I imported the clips, and photos onto 'Final cut Pro' and then edited them in the correct order, once the film was edited correctly, I then added in the two sets of music we used. The reason that editing took so long was because we had photos to import but the first set didn't come out well, so we had to redo them, which lost us 7 days of editing the photos.

This is a photo of me using the camera and the tripod filming
the inside shots, i have used these before on the preliminary task, but i didn't film a lot for it, so using the camera as much as i did was interesting and helped me learn a lot about technology, i  filmed the majority of the opening of our movie so got a lot of use out of it.
The shots outside worked quite well i thought because we got them filmed quicker than i thought we would, as we got all of it filmed within 10 minutes, even though we got about 3 shots of most things this helped us get on and edit, helping us on timing to get everything done on time.

This photo shows me using soundtrack pro, the screen grab below is also soundtrack pro and i used this program on the mac to make the sounds for the ident, i put the sounds that i wanted together, altered the speed of the typing sounds and imported it into final cut pro.

This is a screen grab of Final Cut Pro, we used this to make the whole media product, we added the music and the sounds from Soundtrack Pro into Final Cut Pro and edited it all in that one place, this made it easy as everything was in one document and so it was easy to locate and work from throughout the project.

Evaluation activity five - by Jess and Jenny.

Initially attracting and addressing the audience-
When we came up with our initial idea we quite quickly came up with an idea about our target audience, we did research into previous teen films and the conventions of teen movies, like whats included and whats not included just so we knew what we needed our movie to be like and how we wanted it to fit in with the genre. We quite quickly came up with two hypothetical people that fit in with our target audience, they were:

We used these two people as a constant reference when we were planning our movie, and took them into consideration when we were making crucial decisions, this made sure that we were making decisions in the right way and that we were always taking our audience into consideration.

After Rough Cut-
When our movie rough cut was shown to people in our target audience they said that they didn't really understand the plot very much and they couldn't tell that she was in fact going into college unless you knew the college and you went there, they said that we needed a hook to attract the audience to keep watching. They said that there were some glitches in the split screen and we knew there were, but it was difficult to make it perfect because we had to cut a bit of the talking out as there was a big pause, so we had to cut it out and try and match the split screens up as good as we possibly could, and they also said that the volume levels on the split screen were not matching because one person was a lot louder than the other.

Using the feedback-
After having this feedback we decided to get straight on it and make the changes we needed to, to make our movie opening more appealing to our target audience, firstly we sorted out the sound levels on the split screen conversation and sorted out the glitches as much as we possibly could in the split screen. Then we moved onto the more difficult part of making it more obvious that the character is going into college, and there were many ways we could do this, one of them was to just show the college sign more obviously in the final shot, or to show her walking through the college doors, but we thought the most effective way to put across the fact that she is going into college was to actually show her walking into college, and so we had to film again, so we jus filmed her walking into college, getting changed into some more college appropriate clothes, and then walking into a class still looking a mess, showing she is actually going into college for a class and that the night before has a big effect on her college life and her education as a whole.

Above is a film of a classmate watching the film and then giving us feedback. We asked him certain questions so he would give us the important feedback we needed, and we made the video as its more engaging and we get his instant thoughts on the film. As Jess has explained above we took on board all the feedback that we had gotten and edited out video. But we still wanted feedback of our finished film, to help us evaluate it better hence why we asked if a classmate wouldn't mind watching the final cut and giving us good and bad points about the film.

Above is the final cut of our video.

Evaluation activity four - by Jessica Towler

Evaluation activity three - by Jess and Jenny

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
We feel that our film is based around typical teenage life in the UK, so distributing anywhere other that the UK  wouldn't be a success because we feel that it would be hard to understand as it its based around english teenagers, therefore teenagers from for example the USA would find it difficult to understand, and might not be able to relate to the storyline.

What does a production company do?
A production company has a big responsibility in the film industry, they handle the staff, the hiring of actors, budgeting, scheduling, scripting, the production itself, post production, distribution and marketing. The production company may be directly responsible for fundraising for the movie to be made, they may accomplish this from a parent company, a partner or maybe from a private investor. They can be mainstream independent or completely independent, production companies can also work together as a co-production on a movie. I think that an ideal production company for our movie would be Film4, i think they would be suitable to produce our film because they have a track record of producing small English films, as this is what our movie is, we may need input from other production companies aswell for funding etc, but they would be the main ones responsible for our movie.

The idea of a distributor and who that might be and why?
film distributor is a company or individual responsible for releasing films to the public either theatrically or for home viewing (DVDVideo-On-DemandDownloadTelevision programs through broadcast syndication etc.) I think that the most likely be Studio Canal, this is because it's distributed many films that have been produced by Film4, such as 'The Inbetweeners', 'Attack The Block', and many other others. Studio Canal would be the best because a lot of the films that they distribute relate to our genre that we've used. They're also known for distributing English films and that's exactly what would be best for our film, as then most people will understand and hopefully relate to it.

Where the money might have come from for a movie such as ours?
For our genre movie the funding would most likely come from a variety of production companies, and it might also need a money input from the British Film Institution for lottery money to go towards the making of the movie.
A film that would relate to ours would be the film Submarine, this would be because the funding they had to make their film came from a range of production companies such as Film4, Warp Films, Media Agency Wales and they also had money from the UK Film Council which is now the British Film Institution that gave them lottery money to go towards the making of their movie. The contrast to films like these would be a movie like Harry Potter, they do not have to search around for production companies for funding because Warner Bros already has the money there ready to use.

Why the various people are named in the titles - which jobs appear in titles and in what order and how have you reflected this?
The order in which credits are billed generally follows their importance to the film, just not linearly. First is usually the motion picture company, followed by the producer, then the 'a film by' credit. So for example you have the lead cast, then the supporting cast, costume, make up and producer, writer and writers usually appear last. However we followed but broke these rules for a reason. We put the director at the very begging as this is usually done in English films, but we made sue that  the cast ran in order from the most important to the least important. E.g. Me, then Frankie and then Jack. The titles that then followed were editing, costume and make-up, music, screenplay and Producer etc. We reflected this by placing out titles on the opening of our film, so we displayed them on the photos we edited together, and placed them in different corners of the screen to make it more interesting.

What your film is similar to institutionally?
Movies that would be similar to ours would probably be other UK based teen films, this would be because American teen films would not be the same really because the stereotypes of English teens to American teens are totally different so American teens wouldn't be able to relate to our movies story lines as much. So movies similar to ours would be films like Angus, thongs and perfect snogging, The Inbetweeners movie, Bend it like Beckham and Kidulthood, these films would relate to ours because they are all English based and all revolve around telling the story of teenagers lives from different aspects. They all go about it in a different way but the basis of it is all the same.
It is quite interesting however that English based teen films are not a success as a whole in America, but American teen films are a hit in England, this might be because life is so much different in America and we like to see the contrast of it, and teen films in America arn't so hard hitting as teen films in England, English teen films tend to be Teen Drama whereas American teen films tend to be Teen Comedy, they show the not so truthful side of teenage life.

Evaluation activity two - by Jessica Towler

I  would say that we initially had an idea about the social groups that our movie would appeal to as soon as we came up with the initial ideas. We thought of the smoking, drug taking 'chavs' that are quite badly portrayed in the media, and so they already have a bad name for under age drinking and drugs etc.

I think that our movie opening would represent their social group because Jenny is dressed up like she is older than what she is and you can obviously tell that she has had a rough night out either drinking or taking other substances. We have used the cigarettes in the movie opening to suggest that's a normal thing for her, smoking is a normal thing and so that's what she is used to, I wouldn't expect a 'posh' girl to just light up a fag in the middle of an alley, looking like she has had a rough night out, the morning after, on her way to college, the stereotype just doesn't suggest it, so we have tried our best to stick to the stereotypes and gone along with it in a big way as we have just suggested what everyone else in society thinks goes on.

Preliminary Task - Continuity Excercise by Jess Towler & Jack Mitchell.

Preliminary Task - Continuity Exercise.

Continuity Exercise

This was the continuity task that we were set to show our filming and editing skills. We wanted to show Elle coming through the door in a smooth motion to display our editing skills but I found editing this was quite difficult as we had to get timings perfect. To do this we took many shots of each frame so we could choose from the best ones, so that the film looked as professional as possible. One thing that I would do again would be filming the conversation from a different angle, as this would have made the speech a little clearer and you would have had a better view of both of the girls. However I'm happy with the final piece and think that we definitely stuck to the brief.

Evaluation Preparation.

We decided to make sure that the examiner knew what we had individually done for the evaluation, so on the joint evaluation posts that we have the italic writing is Jessica Towler's, the writing in a different font is the work done by Jenny Tate and the writing in grey is the work that has been done together.

Making the Ident

I took an image of the eiffel tower off of google and imported it into final cut pro, I did this to make the Tower Productions Ident. I chose to use the name Tower Productions because it goes with the theme and also it goes with the image of the Eiffel Tower.

I then wanted to put text into the Ident, I went into the effects tab and chose to add some text, I chose typewriter and then went into controls and changed the text and the font and i also changed the colour to white. I then went into motion and changed the speed of the text, I did this so it would flow more and wouldn't waste time.

Location Changes

Initially we planned to film down an alley way near to Priory Community School, we were going to film there as it looked like it fitted in with our theme of our movie opening, but the day we filmed it began to rain and so we had to get as much done as possible in a short amount of time without getting the camera wet.
When we then went to film the last bits of our movie opening, it was sunny and so the weather would not have matched that in the first part of filming, so we decided to change the location to closer to college, this allowed us to do all the filming at once and in lesson times, allowing us to work as a group and get it all done at once.
The filming for the split screen was done in one take by Jenny, but the other side to the conversation had to be filmed 3 or 4 times, this was down to timing and not knowing when to talk, otherwise the two characters would have been talking over each other and this would have been a disaster for us, as it would have ruined our film opening, so we decided to film it a further 3 times to make sure we got it right.

Location Photos

For our movie opening we used an alley way near college, it is quite run down and has a lot of litter down it, we used it because we thought it would go well with the theme of our movie and it is close to college so it would be easy to do the filming from the alley way to the front of college. The alley way worked well as it gave us alot of options for shots even though it is narrow, and the litter in the alley made up of mainly old, used cigarette packets and old cider cans scattered around worked as a sort of mise-en-scene as it helped make the alley way look the way we wanted it too, we didnt need to do this as it was already there. These photos were taken after filming as we had to change location because of the weather.

Jenny's Opinion;

My personal opinion is that we've stuck to our brief but then drifted from it in many ways. For example the weather and costume has made our film come across much more dark and dangerous, rather than fun but with some consequences. This is is because we originally planned to filmed on a bright sunny day but when it came down to it it was cloudy and quite dark which has added a darker theme than we intend. Also the clothes that I'm dressed in are suited for someone much older than my actual age which I don't think fits into the genre very well as I fell we have almost taken it too far, if I was wearing something more teen like and almost quirky it may have suited the film better. I also think that our film opening looks more like a tv series such as skins, I personally think it looks more like an episode, but the opening and the titles do relate the the film genre. However the mise-en-scene, the smoking and the way that I'm talking to fit into our genre as this is how most teenagers act. They, drink, smoke and swear all rebellious traits. The location also makes it fit into the teen genre a lot more as its located outside and in college which displays our age. In conclusion I think that we've got caught up in the storyline more than the actual aim of the film which is why certain aspects of the film don't fit into our genre.

Jack's opinion;

Although our brief, was too do a "teen film" i feel that out film, has become a bit dark, the dark and dingy weather does not help. Also Jenny's clothing and makeup. the "Skank" look does not really fit in with the genre. Although she appears too be worse for wear and smoking, like many teenagers are after a night out, i feel that her distinct lack of clothing, and the fact that she is going into college, does not fit the genre of the film. I think for it too fit the brief, Jenny should of chosen different clothes, and if there wasn't a time restraint on filming, maybe we could of used a brighter day too not make it look so dark.

Jess's Opinion

I feel that the filming didn't turn out like it was meant to when we planned it, the weather for a start was a little bit to dark and this made the genre of the film seem dark and maybe not the fun, teen type film we were trying to make it, at the moment our movie looks like something bad is going to happen because Jenny is walking down an alley way with litter on the floor in dark, cloudy weather on her own. I think that  we lost track of our genre when we got carried away with our storyline and that our movie would not fit in with other typical 'teen' movies that are out there these days, it fits in more with TVseries' such as skins, and I know that our target audience was that age group, but  I don't think that our movie targets that audience in the right way. This is mainly because of the way the main character comes across, she is 'out of it' and looks like she has been out and had a rough night, but she looks like she has gone too far, and that it has crossed the border from fun to dangerous, and she seems vulnerable and I personally don't think that was the way she was meant to come across to the audience. I think that the right way for our movie to come across after our filming would be to show the effects of alcohol and to try and get teenagers to see what they are putting themselves through, and to try and get them to cut down and to try not to get into such a bad state as what Jenny is in our movie opening.

Filming Diary- day five.

When it came to the last day of filming we knew we had to get it done and finished so we could start on the editing and get everything up to date and done, so the original person that was going to be in the split screen decided to be back in it and it made it better as he knew a bit more about what he was meant to be doing and about the timing etc.
After the filming we took the camera back and looked at what we had and thinking about the timing of the conversation and how it matches up to what jenny says, it goes well with the timing and the overall look of what we were trying to get across, that jack would look clean and not as if he has been out compared to jenny who has had a rough night and who has come into college looking a mess. It shows the difference between them and the way that they use their spare time.

Filming Diary- day four.

For day four we decided that we had to film jack's phone call conversation again, but jack didn't feel like filming today, so we used someone else to film instead.

This didn't work out either because the person we used to film didn't really know what we were doing and so he didn't have a clue about the timing or anything, so we had to film again, wasting another day of editing.

Wednesday, 22 February 2012

Filming Diary- day three.

As we were getting ready to film on day three we were pretty confident with what we needed to get done and with what we already had filmed as we looked over it when we were importing it onto the computer, so all we had to do on day three was film jack's part of having a phone conversation with jenny and this didn't turn out very well as the timing was off and so the conversation didn't flow as the two characters ended up talking over each other and so we knew we had to film it again, and we didn't have time today and it will only take 5 minutes to film again.

Tuesday, 21 February 2012

Filming Diary- day two.

Before shooting on day two we had to find somewhere new to film, we had to make sure it was close to college so that if we needed to we could go out and film little parts that might not have worked so well, we decided to use the alley way near college as it would be easy to link it with the college, and it would be easy to show her walking into college as the way it will show it will all be in the same location and we won't have to go very far at all to film again if needed.

We knew going into day two that we had to get jenny's part of the filming done, otherwise we would be off schedule and would be at risk of not getting everything done on time, we got all the props and costumes ready and went out and found a new location, we then began filming and once we started and decided on shots that we were using it didn't take long at all,
and we added shots where we thought they were needed, but initially we kept most of the shots the same as the shot list and kept to the shooting schedule where needed. So coming out of day two we got everything we needed, ready to film jack's part the next day.

Monday, 20 February 2012

Filming Diary- day one.

We got everything we needed to film all of the shots except the part of the split screen, we were intending to film all of these shots on day one to get the majority of the film opening out of the way, so we could spend most of our time on the editing part of the movie, this didn't go to plan as it started to rain half way through filming and so in order to keep the camera safe we decided against filming any more, and as a result of this all of the filming on day one became useless as we knew we wouldn't be able to film there with the same weather and mise-en-scene again, making day two a crucial day for filming as we had to get the majority of it done ready to edit.

Treatment/Screenplay.

Title sequence for our opening:
The title sequence is going to be a photo montage of Jenny's (our main character) night out. You will see photos of her getting ready, getting dressed in her outfit and at at a really wild party so show her lifestyle. This is almost how we are going to introduce our main characters and set our scene and genre for our film. it will be facebooked themed to connote teenage life; as soon as you see a close up or a clear shot of the characters their names and characters names will appear on the bottom of the screen. A remixed track such as dubstep or drum and bass will be playing throughout.

Our opening:
The music will be playing throughout the photos, a black spilt will then appear and the music will cut to an abrupt stop. You hear the noise of a phone dailing you then see Jenny sat on the kerb with her hair messed up, make-up down her face, tights laddered and smoking a cigarette. The camera will zoom up across her body and stays on her face and you see her take a long drag of her cigarette. The scene will be very dark and street lamps will be on so you know that its very early in the morning. We have a tracking shot of her, holding her high heels, the camera the zooms on her face and you see her take a drag of her cigarette, she then stands up and start to walk, this is then a long shot. All of this is being incorporated with the photos from the night before to tell our story and show what has happened to her. You then hear her phone ringing and she goes through her pockets, you see a close up of the the phone ringing with the called ID of , she then picks up the phone takes another drag of her cigarette and she answers the phone whilst the camera is on a close up shot, and she then says 'What the fuck happened last night?'. Then it cuts completely to a black screen. Throughout the sequence the link between how the character looks before and after is displayed in a video photo montage.

We thought we'd show a few photos for inspiration on make-up and props to try and portray an image of what we want it to like like. This is a photo of Kaya Scodelario (Effy from Skins) We've decided to use this image as it shows an excellent representation of how we want Jenny to look.

This is a photo we found of a very crammed party scene, this is one of the best photos I've scene as it really shows a wild, teen and outrageous party will is exactly what we want to show in our photo montage for our title sequence.

We love this photo we found from Skins as although this series portrays them as rebellious teenagers who want to act a whole lot older than their actually age, this shows their childish side as they're playing with water guns and foam. We want to somehow incorporate this into our montage as we still want to show that teenagers do have a childish vulnerable side.

By Jennifer Tate.

Initial Brainstorms.

Below is the mind map I did to go through possible ideas for our film.

All our ideas were linked in some way as you can see, but in the end we decided that the best thing to do was to do the morning after a night out or a party. We originally decided to film me coming into college from a party, but the party that we were going to take photos at got cancelled so we had to alter our idea slightly. So we then decided to do the story of a 16-17 going out to town clubbing and then coming into college. This in a way worked out better as it showed an even more rebellious side of teenage life as its illegal as she would have been underage. It still related to our initial ideas as it related to skins, was rebellious, and showed some parts of a wild night out.

Costume Planning.

The costumes we used we planned a lot of time on, as we wanted to make us look as old as possible as we had to look like we passed for 18-19 girls. We dressed me in tight wet look leggings which are normally worn on a night out, platform red stiletto heels, a black crop top which was quite revealing and and a red crop top over the top of this. We chose the colour red as its associated with being sexy and rebellious. We then dressed Frankie (the girl to my right) in a tight leapord print dress which showed off her legs, a soft black blazer and black platform heels. We dressed her in black as it didn't maker her look childish and the heels made her look a lot older as it added around 4 inches to her height.

As for make up and hair, I styled my hair in a beehive as I felt it looked grown up, and we styled Frankie with hair extensions to one side as this look is often associated with Newcastle which is one of the main Cities associated with its nightlife. We then did heavy black make-up, fake eyelashes and red lipstick, and made sure out nails were painted to match our outfit.

Scripting.

We had a small amount of speech in our film so we drafted a script to make things run more smoothly.

This was the original script for our film, however it got slightly changed and had more speech added to it as we did more filming that we originally intended, for example;

Hayley; "Ready for this exam?"
Jenny; "Do I look like I'm ready for this exam?"
Hayley; "Standard night out?"
Jenny; "Yeah pretty much."

Jenny; "Yeah I'm basically here now, so I'll speak to you when I'm inside. Alright bye."

This speech was added to make the storyline more understandable for our audience and to make sure that our film filled the time it was supposed to.

Props and Costume.

Below I've taken photos and screengrabs of the props and costumes that we were using in our final film (Teenagism) and explained why we used them.

Costume
The outfit that I'm wearing was chosen because it makes me look older (18-19) and that's how old I had to look to show drinking and going out etc. It was also quite revealing to show the rebellious and deceptive side of teenage life. We had to make sure that everyone in the photos was dressed according to the genre of our film (girl on my left), for example, heavy make up, short dress and heels.

Shoes
The shoes were an important part of the costume because it shows that I've had a 'heavy' night out as I'm carrying them because my feet are clearly hurting, and you can see that they're scuffed on the platform and on the heels which is displaying the fact that I must have tripped and fallen over at some point in the night, which also connotes the fact I must have drunk or/and taken other substances.

Make-up and hair.
My make up and hair took quite a long time to do and as we filmed on a few different days it was  quite time consuming as we wanted it to look genuine. We did my make up so that it looked like i had been crying, hence the black eyes and a few streams down my cheeks, and my hair is half up to show that it was perfect at the beginning of the night but has now clearly become messed up. But you're still not entirely sure how this happened as you don't find this out in the opening scene, but from the costume and make up you can tell something dramatic/bad must have happened. Also compared to the friend that she is talking to, you can see how different her lifestyle is to the majority of the teenagers that she knows, as the image that she is portraying is dramatically different.

Props - Cigarettes.
We used cigarettes as a prop as in this day and age most teenagers smoke as it shows their rebellious side and is also considered very social. The fact that she's smoking whilst in this state also just adds to the whole illusion that she's a rebellious teenager who has no boundaries or consideration for what she gets up to in her spare time.

Props - Mobile phone.
We used a Blackberry Curve as the phone that she had as its a very popular phone with people aged 14-25, and we wanted to show that teenagers never go anywhere without their mobile, so even if she's drunk or high she still won't lose her phone as its very important to her.

Distributor research- Momentum Pictures

Momentum Pictures (also known as Alliance Films UK), an Alliance Films company, is one of the leading independent motion picture distributors in the UK and Ireland.
If i had to choose a current distributor to distribute our movie that we are making the opening for, i would most likely choose Momentum Pictures, i would choose this distribution company because after extensive research into many UK based distributors, this is one of the companies with the biggest variety in movies in their history. Ranging from a historical drama in 2011 which was 'The Kings Speech' to a romantic drama in 2010 which was 'Dear John'.
Other genres that are included in the image of Momentum Pictures are Romantic comedies, Supernatural movies, Comedies, Family comedies, Survival Thrillers, Crime movies, British dramas, Horrors and Action movies. So i think that a Teen Movie would fit in well.
Momentum's most successful theatrical releases include the Oscar, BAFTA and BIFA-winning The King's SpeechAmélieEternal Sunshine of the Spotless MindLost in TranslationControlDownfallThe Young VictoriaDefianceMilkLet the Right One InThe IllusionistJust FriendsDistrict B13 UltimatumThe Men Who Stare at GoatsLaw Abiding CitizenGlorious 39 and P.S.
